Successful Naming of Two 1300TEU Methanol Container Ships in Taizhou Sanfu

On the morning of September 28, 2024, Taizhou Sanfu Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. held a grand naming ceremony for two 1300TEU Methanol Container sister vessels built for Norwegian ship owner. Representatives from the ship owner, DNV Classification Society and Sanfu ship representatives attended the naming ceremony and witnessed this historic moment together.

The 1300TEU Methanol Container ship named this time has an overall length of 149.95 meters, a plumbline length of 147.25 meters, a beam of 26.80 meters, a depth of 14.6 meters, a design draught of 8.00 meters, a maximum deadweight tonnage of 18,700 tons, a capacity of 1,328TEU containers, a design speed of 18 knots, and has entered into the DNV classification society.

The 1300 TEU Methanol Container ship is equipped with a dual-fuel main engine, using green methanol as the main fuel, adopting straight bow and low resistance line design, and equipped with lithium battery pack, permanent magnet shaft generator, high-voltage shore power and other means of emission reduction, which improves the energy efficiency of the ship, reduces the operation cost, and greatly helps the ship owner to cope with the policies and regulations of the IMO Carbon Intensity (CII) and the European Union's Carbon Trading. The ship's energy efficiency design index has fully reached the third stage, and the NOx and SOx emissions meet the high requirements of the North Sea and Baltic Sea emission zones; the ship is also designed with the functions of one-man bridge building NUAT (AW), “take me home”, and bow and stern side push to improve the ship's maneuvering performance; it adopts the design of the cargo hold without a hatch cover and is equipped with 2 sets of Crane cranes and container spreaders. The design of cargo hold without hatch cover, and equipped with 2 sets of Crane and container spreader, mobile rail frame, the design concept of multi-purpose ship can be realized on the container ship, which makes the ship has a strong ability to collect cargo, and its flexibility to adapt to the characteristics of European feeder transportation container variety.

The ship mainly serves along the North Sea and the Norwegian coastline, relying on the green methanol plant on the route, the ship will establish a “green transportation corridor” in Northern Europe, is a type of loading and unloading efficiency, strong capacity to solicit work, excellent economy, green and environmentally friendly ship type.

Currently, Sanfu shipyard has 1300TEU Methanol series and 3500TEU dual-fuel (LNG) series of green container ships under construction, among which the first 3500TEU dual-fuel container ship has already been delivered. Dual-fueled environmentally friendly ships are becoming the mainstream choice in the shipping market. SF shipyard is willing to strengthen cooperation with shipowners and continue innovation to make greater contribution to the realization of the “dual carbon” goal in shipping.
